The results from the latest Gympie Region Business Confidence Survey were released at an event at the Gympie Civic Centre on Tuesday afternoon.
A presentation by Suncorp Financial Market's analyst Darryl Conroy highlighted the Region is not immune to events occurring on the other side of the world. This was apparent in the survey findings, where many businesses expressed frustration by the lack of both business and consumer confidence and its impact on the local economy.
Almost half of respondents revealed the previous six months business performance was weaker than the six months prior to that. However, less than one third of respondents believed the next six months would be weaker, suggesting an underlying confidence in the Region.
The next survey will be run in May 2012.
